02 Jan Bar Italia Announces Grand Opening in Late January
The conversion to Bar Italia is a direct response to the Covid epidemic and customer expectations in our uncertain times. “With business down significantly since March 2020 due to the pandemic, we felt the time was right to explore our restaurant heritage, while offering carryout and delivery options that travel and reheat perfectly,” Rick explains, the founder and CEO of Next Cool Restaurants.
Lindey’s Lakehouse gourmet, family-sized pasta dishes became a customer favorite during the initial lockdown. Perfect for families and designed to be reheated at home, Bar Italia looks to capitalize on the success of those family-style, to-go pasta dishes. “When those pasta dishes did so well, it was like our Lakewood community was telling us what they’d like to see more of in the neighborhood,” says Pat Granzier, NCR’s Director of Operation. And so, Bar Italia was born.
Bar Italia offers authentic, delicious Italian food in a friendly, upscale atmosphere. The menu features homemade, local pasta from Flour Restaurant in Moreland Hills, OH and fresh heart-shaped baguettes and pastries from On The Rise bakery in Cleveland Heights. NCR executive chefs Rob Records, Greg Sears, Ryan Kelley and Andy Dicken have all worked with local farmers to find the freshest, highest-quality meats and produce. Over the last 6 months, our chefs have crafted a menu where guests can customize their own pasta dishes. Customers choose from our line of homemade pastas tossed with one of our made-from-scratch sauces.
“We really took a unique approach when developing menu items for Bar Italia. Usually it’d just be Rob or I working on the menu,” explains Chef Andy, “but for Bar Italia we worked together to create the best, classic Italian dishes and sauces we could.” Our chefs have also perfected Italian entrees like Bar Italia’s classic Chicken Parmesan and wild-caught Grilled Branzino served with a melt-in-the-mouth lemon butter sauce in addition to Bar Italia’s homemade pastas.
Bar Italia Lakewood also underwent a complete makeover to warm up the space and make it more inviting. The world-renowned design firm, W Design, worked with NCR to create an upscale, casual interior. Reclaimed barn wood finishes, original brick walls, and a carrara marble bar all create a welcoming, cozy atmosphere perfect for date nights or grabbing drinks with friends.
Bar Italia has purchased a fleet of five Ferrari red Fiat 500s ready to hand deliver local, homemade pastas and entrees to our customers who’d rather snuggle up at home. Our team of drivers are ready to deliver family-sized, oven-ready pastas and entrees to fill up the whole family.
“The safety of our customers and staff remain our number one priority,” says Director of Operations, Tim Davin. All restaurant staff undergo frequent testing and always wear a face mask while working. High-touch surfaces are regularly wiped down, state of the art plexiglass dividers separate tables and bar guests, and the restaurant has prioritized air filtration and ventilation during all hours.
This restaurant has been a labor of love for the NCR team, who have more than 170 years of collective experience perfecting authentic, high-quality Italian food. As Rick put it, “we listened to our guests when they told us they wanted a family-friendly, cozy restaurant featuring easy-to-heat-up, fresh pastas with homemade sauces and classic Italian entrees. Bar Italia is our answer. We hope you enjoy it!”
